Pastoral Year Assignment: St. William Parish, Round Rock
I am the youngest of three boys and I grew up in Elgin, right outside of Austin. This is my sixth year as a seminarian; my first three were spent at St. Joseph Seminary College in Covington, LA studying philosophy and the last two were spent studying theology in Rome at the Pontifical North American College. I am currently on my pastoral year at St. William Parish in Round Rock – think of “pastoral year” as similar to an internship; an entire year to be immersed in parish ministry and to live as much as possible the life of a priest. This pastoral year has been a tremendous blessing and I have grown to really love parish life and serving the people of God.
I was a realtor before entering seminary at the age of twenty-five. I loved my job but God gave me the strength to eventually answer His calling me into seminary. Seminary has been great! I have gotten to experience Jesus’ love for me in an extremely personal way and have made many great friends as well. I have grown as a Christian man and through the grace of God I feel Him transforming my heart into that of a priest’s.
In my free time I love playing sports, especially football and tennis. I play chess also and really just about any board game… I am pretty competitive! I read a lot also and enjoy books which expose me to something new about the world, people and God.
Thank you so much for praying for me during my journey towards the priesthood of Jesus Christ. Know that I am praying for you as well and I hope that our paths cross soon within the diocese! God bless.
