To start off, I would like to say that I am a proud “jarocho,” meaning I was born in Veracruz, Mexico and raised in Austin. I was blessed from an early age with a family who knew and lived the faith. I have one sister Diana and 2 nephews that I love with all my heart. I attended public school and graduated high school in 2011. After high school I went back to Mexico to study filming arts because I wanted to be an actor. Things didn't work well in acting so I came back to Austin. I started working and I was very active in my parish. I was involved in youth groups and retreats around the diocese. My faith was on fire so much so that I remember wanting to serve the Lord. I began to discern priesthood in 2015 when I became significantly involved in various ministries in my home parish, St. Ignatius, Martyr, and Cristo Rey. The Lord quickly helped me realize my natural disposition to serve others through the testimony of a newly ordained priest in my home parish. He showed me the joy of the priesthood. I couldn't run away from it. So I broke up with my girlfriend and joined seminary. This is my first year and the Lord has been good. I am excited to continue to grow spiritually and overall as a man of God.
