Jeff Jasek

Birthday: March 29th

Home Parish: St. John Vianney, Austin

Level of Formation: II Theology

Seminary: St. Mary's Seminary

I am the youngest of the four children of Tom and Margaret Jasek. I have two sisters and one brother. I am originally from Corpus Christi and lived there until I was eleven years old. I then moved to Albuquerque, NM with my parents. My siblings are all much older than me, so they were already in college and beyond by the time we moved and they all remained in Texas. I went to middle school and high school in Albuquerque, and then moved to Las Cruces, NM to attend New Mexico State University after graduation. It was during college that I began to discern the priesthood.

I applied to the Diocese of Las Cruces, and was accepted in October of 2014. I graduated from NMSU that December and was placed in a parish until I could enter seminary the following August. In June of 2015, my folks moved to Hutto to be closer to all my siblings and their families. In August of 2015 I entered Holy Trinity Seminary (HTS) in Dallas to begin my philosophy studies. I spent one year there as a seminarian for Las Cruces, and, after a period of prayer and discernment, got permission to transfer into the Diocese of Austin. I was allowed to stay at HTS and finished up my philosophy studies there. In August of 2017, I entered St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston and am in my first year of theological studies.

My journey has been a very spiritual and emotional one. I am grateful for the many gifts with which the Lord has blessed me in these years of study and formation. I am excited to be on this journey and am looking forward to what awaits me in the years to come!
